Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how davidio.dev ("the Site", "we", "I", "David") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you visit or interact with the Site. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate the Site and to respond to your inquiries:

  • Contact form data: name, email address, the purpose of your message (contact, estimate, or booking), and the content of your message.
  • Preference data: theme (dark/light) and language choice, stored locally in your browser (localStorage).
  • Consent data: your cookie and AI-assistant consent choices, stored locally in your browser.
  • Usage data: if you enable analytics, anonymous usage information may be collected to understand how the Site is used. Analytics is disabled by default and only runs after you grant consent.
  • AI chat data: if you enable the AI assistant, your messages are transmitted to a third-party AI provider (Groq, Inc.) for processing. Messages may be retained by that provider under its own policies.

2. How We Use Information

Information is used solely to: respond to your messages and inquiries, manage estimates and bookings, operate and secure the Site, and, where you have consented, provide the AI chat assistant.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data is never used for advertising.

3. Storage and Security

Contact submissions are stored in a private file on the Site server and are accessible only through a password-protected admin area. The admin area is protected by an authentication token stored in a secure, HttpOnly cookie.

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

The Site uses cookies and browser local storage for: necessary functions (theme, language, consent choices, and session data), analytics (only with your consent), and the AI chat assistant (only with your consent).

You can accept, decline, or customize each category at any time via the cookie settings panel (also available in the footer). See the Cookie Policy for details.

5. Third-Party Services

AI chat: when enabled, chat messages are processed by Groq, Inc. and their underlying model providers. We encourage you to avoid sharing sensitive personal information in chat messages.

The Site links to external services (such as GitHub, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services.

6. Data Retention

Contact submissions are retained until you request their deletion. You may request deletion, correction, or a copy of your data at any time by contacting us through the Site contact form.

Local preference data stays in your browser until you clear it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under the GDPR and California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the Site contact form.

8. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Contact

For any privacy-related questions or requests, use the contact form on this Site and select the "General contact" purpose.
